FAQ’s and Helpful Tips
What is interlining and should I have my curtains interlined?
Interlining is a thick fleecy layer of fabric which goes between your face fabric and the lining. It makes the curtains really thick and luxurious and makes them hang beautifully.
Interlined curtains are also great for energy efficiency and keeping the warmth in during the cold winter months.
There are 2 weights of interlining we use: thin or thick - we will assess several factors including, face fabric weight, space each side of the window and room style to choose which will be the most appropriate, if you have a preference, please let us know when we are estimating.
We interline our curtains as standard, please specify if you would like an alternative option.
Why are your curtains floor length as standard?
We make all of our curtains floor length as is industry standard, this maximises energy efficiency as well as looking very elegant and timeless. Long curtains also elongate windows and make rooms feel taller and more spacious, as well as draping beautifully.
There are some circumstances where short curtains may be more appropriate which can be reviewed on a site visit. If sill length curtains are your preference please let us know and this will be highlighted on our estimate.
My curtain pole/ track isn’t running smoothly! How do I fix it?
We recommend spraying Silicon Spray or polish on your tracks and poles every 6 months or so to keep them running smoothly.
Do interlined curtains really impact my homes energy efficiency?
Yes! Thermography images shows that shutters, blinds and curtains significantly reduce heat loss through windows, which is great for winter months but they also help to keep the heat out during the summer. We would recommend interlining your curtains for maximum energy efficiency.
